Fabulous California Wine Regions You Should Visit in 2024

by Maria Haase

Some say: “Home is where the wine is”! I guess I am lucky to call California my home in two ways. California has become one of the most prolific wine-producing regions in the world. Ever since 1976, when professional (French) wine tasters picked California wines over their French counterparts, California wine regions have been considered top-notch quality.

California is split into 5 main wine regions: South Coast, Central Coast, and North Coast along the coast (you guessed it), as well as Inland Valleys, and Sierra Foothills. With 148 AVAs (American Viticultural Areas) and over 2800 wineries in California, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Drinking California wines is fun, of course, but visiting the wine regions, going for wine tastings, and chitchatting with the winemakers take the experience to a whole other level. Winecations are all the rage this year. Are you ready to visit some of the best wine regions in California?

Indulge in wine tastings that range from casual to sophisticated, often paired with gourmet local cuisine.
