Art Walk At Liberty Station

A former naval training center, Liberty Station is now a hive of activity in the Point Loma area. A hub for food, craft beer, and shopping, Liberty Market is one of the area’s hotspots. However, there’s more to this neighborhood than good food.
Each year, Liberty Station hosts an art festival. This gives a platform to both up-and-coming and established artists to display and sell their incredible artworks. On Friday, there is an opening party (ticketed event), and Saturday and Sunday are free and open to the public.
For art collectors or visitors looking for a unique keepsake, this is a fantastic opportunity to find some real treasures.
San Diego Brew Fest
When: August 8, 2026

San Diego’s Beer scene is still one of the best in the country. To celebrate San Diego’s best craft breweries and indulge in their top brews, sign up for the San Diego Brew Fest. Doors open at 12, and you have until 4 to sip your way through the best beers of San Diego.
There will be 70 San Diego breweries, 200+ beers on tap, and 10 food trucks to keep hunger and thirst away.
Hillcrest City Fest
When: August 9, 2026 12 PM – 11 PM

One of the largest, free art and music festivals in San Diego is taking place again in Hillcrest this year. With 70000 expected visitors, it will be a big party with lots of fun activities.
There are two stages featuring over 20 hours of combined live entertainment. There is also a kids’ zone offering arts and crafts, flower potting, making your own comic book, and more.
City Fest After Dark starts at 7 PM and turns Hillcrest into a full-on street party. 2 cocktail bars, a beer garden, and a pumping vibe that will keep you dancing until the lights are turned off.
Chula Vista Lemon Fest

To commemorate Chula Vista’s agricultural heritage and history as the “Lemon Capital of the World”, join the 29th iteration of the Chula Vista Lemon Festival. Dress up in your zestiest lemon outfit and enjoy live music, vendors, street food, and more
Bike The Bay
When: August 23, 2026

A fun event open to all ages and skill levels, Bike the Bay is an annual bike ride across the San Diego Bay. Organized by the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, all proceeds from the cycle go towards making San Diego a safer, more cyclist-friendly city.
Ride across the famous San Diego – Coronado Bay Bridge as part of this 25 mile route, and see the city from a whole new perspective. Best of all, you can cycle at your own pace, making it a perfect day out for the whole family.
This year, they also offer a 50-mile route, which will take you over the Coronado Bridge twice. A great way to really pump up your endurance and enjoy the best view over San Diego twice.
Upon returning to the starting point, you’ll be greeted with a selection of food, drinks, and entertainment to enjoy. Kick back in a relaxing beer garden and celebrate with your fellow cyclists. Proceeds go to the San Diego County Bike Coalition, which fights for making San Diego’s streets more bike-friendly, safer, and connected.
Brazilian Festival

Brazilian tunes, cultural exhibits, food, and more await you at the famous Brazilian Festival. It is the first time the festival takes place in San Diego, and we can’t wait to experience the festivities. Get tickets ahead, as the price will double at the door.

Spend A Day At Balboa Park
You’ll undoubtedly find yourself in iconic Balboa Park during your trip. A must for anyone visiting San Diego for the first or even fifth time, this sprawling park is San Diego’s backyard.
With over 1,200 acres to explore, you’ll be spoiled for choice, and may find yourself stopping here more than once during your stay.
Nature lovers will be impressed by the beautiful Botanical Building and Japanese Gardens. While those craving more of a cultural experience shouldn’t miss out on the San Diego Museum of Art, the Spanish Village Art Center, and the San Diego Natural History Museum. There are 17 museums within the park to choose from.

Visit The Renowned San Diego Zoo

If Balboa Park is a must on every visitor’s list, then San Diego Zoo should also be included in your visit. The zoo is located in the park itself, making this a perfect stop for visitors.
You’ll be blown away by the huge array of majestic animals at this zoo, from rhinos, cheetahs, and sloths to polar bears and penguins.
The Nighttime Zoo experience runs through the entirety of the summer and makes for a truly memorable evening. Enchanting animals, live entertainment, and a lively atmosphere are guaranteed.

Take Your Pick Of Breathtaking Beaches
If you’re vacationing in San Diego, chances are you’ll be spending some of your time beach-hopping along the coast.
San Diego County has 70 miles of coastline to be explored. Whether you’re looking for a bustling boardwalk or a tranquil haven, you’ll have your pick of the best San Diego beaches.
Those hoping to be in the center of the action will love Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, or La Jolla Shores. While visitors hoping to escape the busy city will be drawn to Torrey Pines State Beach or Black’s Beach. If you have a dog traveling with you, check out these dog beaches so your pooch can catch some waves too.

August Weather in San Diego
Many visitors flock to the San Diego shores every August for the pleasant weather. Temperatures generally range from lows of 68°F to highs of 77°F, making for some pretty perfect conditions. It’s warm enough to spend days on the beach soaking up the sun, yet still moderate enough to explore the city on foot.
As is the case with most summer months in San Diego, August experiences very little rainfall, usually coming in at less than 1 inch. Many visitors won’t see any rain at all during their vacation here.
San Diego sees around 13.5 hours of daylight in August and about 11.9 hours of sunshine. This gives you ample time to get out and enjoy the city. Those who prefer cooler temperatures can make the most of the bright mornings and evenings, and escape the midday heat.

The sunshine can be strong this time of year, so it is important to pack a hat and sunscreen to protect your skin.
